Citation Management Software

Presentation of EndNote and Zotero, two widely used citation managers

Creating Independent Bibliographies

Select the references you want to include into your bibliography, then click on the button "Copy to Quick List" on top of the page. Then go to the Format tab -> Bibliography, select the Quick List (or the group you want to use for your bibliography), the style and the rtf format. Then select Preview and Print if you just want to print it, or save if you wish to open with Word or a text processing programme.

Inserting References Directly into a Text

You can download a Cite While You Write plug-in for Word, which will make an EndNote toolbar appear, allowing you to insert references directly into a text.

If you wish to add a page number, a prefix or a suffix to your citation, click on "Edit & Manage Citation(s)".

If included in the chosen style, EndNote creates automatically the in-text citation and the bibliography at the end of the text. You can change the style of your references at any time.

If you want your references to appear in footnotes, you have to create the footnotes first, and then insert the citation in the footnote.
