Latin American countries have increased their influence at the United Nations climate change negotiations and offered potential solutions on coping with global warming. But in the face of competing priorities, sometimes these climate policies are jettisoned, undermined, or simply ignored. This book focuses on Latin America's three major blocs at the U.N. climate negotiations and how they attempt to balance climate action with building prosperity.

Introduction

Climate change and environment are important teaching and research domains at the Graduate Institute. The Library holds a substantial collection of documentation on these topics. In 2010, the Centre for International Environmental Studies (CIES) was established for the purpose of developing political, legal and economic discourse on problems related to the global environment. It offers a research programme specialised in climate change.
