Religion and Philosophy

Philosophy, psychology and religion are minor subjects in the Library's collection. The philosophy collection includes the main authors of the field of political philosophy, such as Arendt, Foucault, Habermas, Hegel, Kant and Rawls.

The Library has also inherited an important collection from the former library of the Graduate Institute of Development Studies (1961-2008), including books on religion and religious missions in developing countries, particularly in Africa. Since the creation of the Yves Oltramare Chair on Religion and Politics in the Contemporary World, this subject has become more important.

Main subjects

  • Global justice
  • Islam and political Islam
  • Religion and international relations
  • State-religion relations

General books on non-Western philosophy are occasionally purchased.
