How to use the Library loan service at the Graduate Institute

Loan Conditions

  • All users may now borrow up to 100 documents
  • Standard loan: 28 days
  • Short loan: 7 days ("Consultatif", films, comics)
  • 5 automatic renewals (if the document is not reserved by an other user)

Reserve a checked out document belonging to the Graduate Institute Library

Reserve or request a checked out document belonging to a Library outside the Graduate Institute

Reminder and Fees

  • 1 day after loan term: free reminder
  • 1st paying reminder
    7 days after loan term: 5 CHF per document
  • 2nd paying reminder
    14 days after loan term: an additional 5 CHF per document
  • 3rd paying reminder
    21 days after loan term: an additional 10 CHF per document

Lost Checked Out Document

  • announce the loss to the loan desk
  • fill in a form to acknowledge the document loss
  • send it to the Graduate Institute Library or bring it to the loan desk

Damaged Document

  • a new copy in new condition must be purchased
  • fill in a form to aknowledge the damage
  • send it to the Graduate Institute Library or bring it to the loan desk

Regulations

Library regulations have been approved by the Graduate Institute authorities thereby giving all Library users the opportunity to make full use of Library resources. Ignoring regulations may inconvenience other users and entail fines or other penalties, so please take the trouble to read them.

  • food and drink (except bottled water) should not be consumed. Hot food or alcoholic drinks should not be brought into any area of the Library
  • litter should be disposed of by using the recycling bins
  • the need for quiet should be respected
  • phones must be set on silent mode
  • group study or silent areas should be used appropriately
