The CERN Archives is a repository for historical records about all aspects of CERN's activities. It includes files of letters, memos, reports, notes, and other documents created or received by CERN since the 1950s. In addition, it also contains the Wolfgang Pauli Archive, Laureate of the 1945 Nobel Prize in Physics.

The CERN Archives holds around 2,000 shelf metres of files and boxes, including scientific, technical, and administrative documents relating to CERN Council; administration and management; planning, construction and operations of accelerators, detectors and facilities; research facilities, experiment collaborations; theoretical and experimental physics; technologies (computing, electronics, vacuum, cryogenics, etc.); World Wide Web. Only some items have been digitised and are available online.

There are two ways of finding a document:

Access Policy: The majority of the scientific and technical material is not restricted. The general access rule is 30 years. Some confidential material may, exceptionally, be closed for a longer period.
