The League of Arab States or Arab League is a regional organisation of Arab states in North Africa and the Middle East. It was formed in Cairo on March 22nd, 1945, and has currently 22 member States.
The Arab Charter on Human Rights was adopted by the Council of the League of Arab States on May 22nd, 2004, and has been in force since March 15th, 2008. A first version was adopted on September 15, 1994, but no state had ratified it.
